We at BCC would have to say that the Cohiba Esplendidos cigar is one of the most exquisit vitola we have been fortunate enough to enjoy, perhaps only matched by a H. Upmann Sir Winston cigar. Although Churchill is not everybody´s favorite size / vitola…at least not as Robusto size, this cuban cigar does not have any of the downsides associated to double coronas and other long vitolas. By analizing this habano appearance, the wrapper is smooth and almost completely free of visible veins on the surface, which is coloured with a golden-tan shade and a slightly darker bunching of filler leaves at the foot of the cigar. Clipping the opposite end revealed the same familiar pattern of “bunched” filler leaves at the head which immediately revealed the same honey-like, manure aroma of fine quality Cuban tobacco. The construction on this cuban is marvelous. It is very well rolled in Colorado medio, the best leaf from Vuelta Abajo Tobacco Region. The draw on the Cohiba Esplendidos is fine while the burn might not be 100% stable but always self-corrected. The ash might not be really impressive and held for a couple of centimeters. But the flavour….ohhh the flavour, just and simply flavor-wise, one of the best cuban cigars we have ever had at Buycubancigars. Never went out. The stick is mostly spicy as most within the Cohiba vitolas. What makes this habano so good is that you never know what would come next – in the first third, some cedar notes are noticed which are suddenly replaced by elegant floral scents in the second third. In the last third, Cohiba Esplendidos gets sweeter and one could feel chocolate and cocoa hints. Mixed with peppery flavors, this habano provides an outstanding finish. Talking about the value, Cohiba Explendidos is a luxury cuban cigar, very expensive, perhaps the third most expensive Cuban cigar in current production available, following Cohiba BHK 56 and Montecristo A vitolas. Not for everyday and also it must be well aged to perform a good smoke. Buycubancigars would recommend to smoke this cuban cigar aged, at least, four or five years old from the date of production.
