Habanos launched the Montecristo Open range this year as a line for the occasional outdoors habanos smoker, with both the name and the second green band being a clear reference to golf and the Montecristo Open tournament. The Open Master could be Montecristo long-awaited Robusto vitola. In appearance, the wrapper on this cuban vitola has a nice Connecticut shade hue, but is somewhat veiny. These cigars feel a bit soft. Pre-light on this stogie features some tobacco and hay hints. Easy draw. The burn throughout the stogie is almost perfect and these habanos produce a good amount of smoke. The ash is light gray. In regards the flavour, these cuban cigars start with mild tobacco notes and a little coffee, slowly becoming a bit creamy and woody and finishing on cedar and very light sweet spice notes. Buycubancigars advises that this is not for the seasoned tobacco connoisseur or cuban cigars aficionados, but rather the casual ones.
